Why did I receive an e-mail for resource overusage?

Here are some helpful tips regarding the system notifications about resource overusage on your hosting account:

1) What does this e-mail tell us?

This is a formal server notification that your account has reached it's hosting plan resource limits. It's mission is to notify you regarding an issue which arose in your website and demands your attention.

2) Does it concern me?

The e-mail is being sent exclusively to users which "hit" their hosting plan resource limits. If you receive the e-mail sporadically or it shows a small number of hits you can possibly ignore it, however if you receive it on a daily basis or shows a large number of hits we suggest not to ignore it. Solving the issue will make your website load even faster

3) Does it affect me?

Your site reached the limits the number of times mentioned in the e-mail. The system -to preserve stability- does not allow a user to go past his limits, so if you ask for more resources it will smooth the requests (flatten the curve). In the first stage of smoothness, the system will provide less resources per request trying to serve all visitors, thus your website will load slower than usual. If the visitors number is high (or the smoothness is not possible), the rest of the visitors will receive a message that your website has reached it's resource limit and that they will have to come back at a later time (503 Resource Limit Exceeded).

4) What can I do about it?

For starters, you can enable page caching. If you use WordPress, Magento, Joomla, Prestashop, Opencart, Drupal or Laravel, you can enable Litespeed's LSCache plugin (Litespeed is the web server we use). Using that plugin will lower your website generation time, providing a better browsing experience on it. If you use Wordpress and using LSCache plugin does not help, you can try to pinpoint the source of the problem using cPanel's X-Ray app. Using that option in cPanel, you can start a throughout check on your website which will show which plugins or queries cause delay, so you will know what needs to be optimized or replaced. Many times a plugin or exernal request causes delay which can be easily solved.

5) Why did I receive it now?

Many users on specific times see their website loading slower than normal, due to recource limits. These emails started from us on late March 2022 with the purpose of notifying you for this issue, so you will know that with some fine tuning your website can load even faster.

6) Would the website load faster on competitors?

Resource limiting per account is standard policy on most of the hosting providers for stability reasons. If you happen to host your site on a company which does not restrict resoueces, be sure that other pages on the same server can -in high traffic- cause issues on your own page since they will hog up all resources. The limits protect you from other users too. As for the restriction, in our web hosting plans we have the following limits:

Starter, Standard, Advanced, Silver, Gold, Platinum: 1 CPU core, 3GB RAM, 20 Entry processes
Professional, Premium: 2 CPU cores, 5GB RAM, 40 Entry processes

These resources are from the biggest in the market and will not affect your website, as long as it is properly configured.

7) Could I purchase more resources?

For starters we suggest optimizing your website so you don't have to. In case you've exhausted all optimization possibilities and you are on Starter, Standard, Advanced, Silver, Gold or Platinum plan, you can upgrade to Professional and Premium which provide more resources. If you are already on these plans, you should consider the possibility of transferring your site to it's own cloud server. You can see the available plans here, just keep in mind that you will have to get a plan which has more resources than then ones provided now in your hosting plan.
